San Jose is the capital city of Costa Rica, was founded in 1737 and its main attraction lies in its Spanish heritage and the imprint that the occupation left in its architecture and customs. With an area of 170 km ², this is the most populous city, the industrial, commercial and financial of the country, and the point at which all communications go Costa Rica, so it is inevitable to visit when traveling to the Republic. This city is known for a cuisine and high-level accommodation, which is no shortage of bed & breakfast and the popular sodas or small local restaurants and fast food, fashion and inns are part of the nightlife, complemented various cinemas and theaters.
The religious festivals and popular celebrations in the city of San Jose in December, are some of the activities they can enjoy traditional visitors. Among the places most interesting features include the museum (the Museo Nacional, the Museo del Oro Pre-Columbian and the Museo de Jade), the National Theatre in the late nineteenth century (surely the main building of the city), the National Palace St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Central Park, National Park, Bolivar Park and Morazan Park. San Jose draws attention because it offers a much more American than other American cities, and shopping malls, department stores and international fast food chains to live daily with the last vestiges of colonial and Hispanic, represented by the beautiful architecture of origin Spanish, bustling markets full of color and noise (such as Central) and friendliness and affability of its people.
